Centerline Acoustics CA8SD 8” Single Driver Mini Wedge
The Centerline Acoustics CA8SD 8” Single Driver Mini Wedge is a full range driver floor wedge designed to meet the need for a high-quality, high-output floor monitor wedge where
tight space, low weight, and high clarity is a consideration. So, what do we mean by “Single Driver”? Simply put, this is not a coaxial driver monitor but is just a single driver. No woofer, no high frequency compression driver, and no two-way crossover, just one driver covering from around 100hz up to 16khz with a
sweet and easy roll-off of the highs at around 10khz. The only other device in the box other than the driver is a high-pass filter that acts as a protecting device when extreme low frequencies are present.
Other innovations that make sense are features such as Speakon
jacks on both sides of the enclosure; not two on one side or two
on the back. Your cables will never be in the way regardless if
you are daisy-chaining, or which side your floor box happens to
be located. Plus, the #2 hot and cold connector pins of the
Speakon jacks are wired to pass-through which means you can
run two individual mixes down one 4-conductor cable.
The CA8SD enclosure is made of Baltic birch plywood cut on a
CNC machine, glued and stapled, then sprayed in a textured
Polyurea coating for Sherman Tank-like construction.
